About Summit

India is the second largest producer of Fruits and Vegetables in the world. Harnessing the compelling strength in biodiversity, India is on its way to becoming the global hub for fresh produce outsourcing with diverse agro climatic zones, and a wealth of native knowledge contributing to the sector's development. India shares a warm relationship with several gross importers of Fruits & Vegetables.

As the demand for fresh Fruits & Vegetables increases, it translates into a huge demand for controlled climate infrastructure. The Cold Chain system is highly capital intensive, and holds immense potential for the banking and financial services sector. Work done in this sector is also likely to benefit a large section of the Farming community by creating greater value for them through improved crop realizations. It will also spawn an entire economic ecosystem of rural entrepreneurship creating large-scale employment at the grass roots level. Overall, the potential for generating social equity is enormous. Since the cultivation of Fruits & Vegetables is largely regional, entrepreneurial success will be largely contingent upon timely transportation of produce.

Therefore, the CII Cold Chain Summit has been designed to create a platform for all stakeholders to come together to discuss the existing models of Fruits & Vegetable businesses in the country, analyse need gap and financial viability of Cold Chains in the Indian context. vThe Summit will cover all the aspects of this matter for identifying major triggers that will make this phenomenon a reality in the country.

As a part of the Summit, Technology Sessions will be organized for creating awareness amongst stakeholders on specific cost Effective Climate Control Technologies, Tracking & Monitoring Technologies as well as Packaging Technologies. An Exhibition of suitable Cold-Chain technologies, equipment and services will also add to the efforts of awareness creation and information dissemination on Cold-Chain.
